Editorial Policy
This Editorial Policy explains how content is created, reviewed, and updated on HealthMedHub. Transparency is essential to trust, especially for a health website.
1. Our Content Principles
- Accuracy first: every factual claim should be supported by a reputable source.
- Clarity: content is written in plain English, avoiding unnecessary jargon.
- Honesty: we do not exaggerate benefits or minimize risks.
- Usefulness: content exists to support our tools and help real users.
- No medical claims: we describe, we don't prescribe.
2. Sources We Use
When we cite health information, we prefer reputable, government, or academic sources, including:
- World Health Organization (WHO)
- U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and MedlinePlus
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where relevant
- U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for nutrition data
- UK National Health Service (NHS)
- Peer-reviewed academic journals
We avoid citing low-quality blogs, unattributed content, or AI-generated sources.
3. How Tools Are Built
Our calculators use formulas that are published and widely used in clinical or research settings (for example, Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi formulas for ideal weight; Mifflin-St Jeor and Harris-Benedict for BMR). Each tool documents the formula it uses on its page.
4. Review and Updates
Content is reviewed periodically for accuracy and updated when new information becomes available. The "Last updated" date on each page reflects the most recent revision.
5. Corrections
If you find an error, please contact us at corrections@healthmedhub.com. We take corrections seriously and will review them promptly.
6. Independence and Advertising
HealthMedHub is funded by advertising (Google AdSense). Advertisers do not influence our editorial content, tool design, or recommendations. Ads are placed so they do not interfere with the use of a tool.
7. Medical Review
HealthMedHub is not currently reviewed by licensed medical professionals. We do not claim to be medically reviewed, and we do not use credentials we do not hold. When we publish content that touches on clinical topics, we rely on published guidelines from the sources listed above and clearly label it as educational information — not medical advice.
8. AI Assistance
Some content may be drafted with the assistance of AI tools. All AI-assisted content is reviewed by a human editor and checked against primary sources before publication. AI is never used to generate medical claims, statistics, or citations.
